Mission and Vision

The mission of the Downers Grove Public Library Foundation is to serve the residents of Downers Grove through enhancement of the quality and range of library services beyond the level provided by tax monies.

The Downers Grove Public Library Foundation provides a protected, perpetual source of revenues which will promote the capability of the library to provide the highest level of services beyond the level provided by tax monies.

The Downers Grove Public Library Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that was started thanks to a generous bequest from the estate of long-time Downers Grove resident, Lillian Culbertson. The foundation’s objectives are to provide support for the projects, programs, and other needs of the Downers Grove Public Library.

The foundation does not replace tax money; it is intended to enhance the quality and range of library services and materials beyond tax monies. The foundation board works closely with library staff to ensure that all gifts are put to the best use to benefit library patrons and the community. All donations to the foundation are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

For more information about the Downers Grove Public Library Foundation, contact the library’s Administrative Office at (630) 960-1200 or email us.

The Downers Grove Public Library Foundation’s IRS Form 990 Return of Organization Exempt From Income Tax is available for public inspection in the library’s administrative office during regular business hours.
